Let’s just agree that our core instinct for survival is our ability to hunt. Being a hunter, implies assuming risks that automatically generate some sort of thrill. On the other side, we see risk adverse individuals which, prefer to take the role of being the helps of thrill seekers or, in some cases, generating environments as helpers for thrill seek environments.
As cities evolve, spaces warp. Individuals from thrill, seek environments generate hype and while this hype looks like a great spectacle, which many seem to enjoy, other, on the other hand generate or experience distress.
Metropolis, a great movie at the time, identified the very fabric of the social problem in the working class. The real problem workers were facing was telling them something new which will make them feel small or wanting more. Here, Fritz Lang expressed graphically a great question at the time when consumerism was building up.
However, the real problem was in fact anxiety. When one-person universe has little accessibility to knowledge, this, of course, in one man’s perspective, needs are not diversified. Of course, in advanced societies and smart cities, information is liberalized, but the archaic brain isn’t as developed to keep up with advanced changes proposed by thrill seekers.
The result, as our research suggests, those individuals which are slow in keeping with the change, develop anxiety and other mental health issues.
Of course, individuals need help and there is help, but what there is new kind of help around the block.
Lagging individuals, often feel isolated and while governmental support is available, is also limited to a certain or severe level. What Reeza Merchant is doing at The Collective is truly amazing. A community of co-living tackling mental health problems though social participation.
HOMEPOD was one of the luckiest startups to be features in their Accelerator this summer, and I had the opportunity to connect with other founders and with their startups. The experience I had was amazing. One month which gave me the knowledge about London startup landscape. I believe humans displace things and they take pride in everything they do.
At first it was very difficult to connect with people at the collective. I am still intrigued to find that such experience in our social networking experience with mental health or anxiety affected individuals cannot be for an un-experienced person like me, a fast learning curve.
Not everyone was lobotomized from their hunting abilities, but those who were affected, they also become responsive to non-directed noise. I have seen similar experiences with autism related individuals.
I have seen a good story about this being the next level in human evolution from the latest Predator movie, but I am sure how this works in more concrete problem-solving games if you lose focus with noise.
Of course, I am only scratching the surface with my examples but it is a good learning experience for what I am trying to develop here at HOMEPOD.EU At a recent event, I had a chance to ask Radu Georgescu about Environmental, Sustainable and green investments and I received quite an awkward answer, saying that he cannot provide an intelligence answer to my question about his investment preferences.
Cities as they are today, consume as much as 40% of all energy (data from EC, in European Union) and 50% is due to heating and cooling. Being more environmentally friendly, means looking at solutions which promote efficiency.
Energy plays a huge role for home owners, mainly in regards to increasing energy prices and changes in weather patterns such as global warming which increases the energy usage.
Developing buildings which are energy efficient and sustainable at the same time, isn’t an easy process. Construction industry in Europe generates around 980 million tons of construction and demolition waste. Aggregating these issues in regards to energy efficiency and sustainability, buildings become a top pollutant and while our cities are developing and growing at the same time, major risks can develop.
One is air quality from bad building materials which makes individuals unhealthy and the moment they start to feel unhealthy, leading to anxiety.
As anxiety in cities increase, people tend to be more lonely and while The Collective provides a good platform for individuals to interact, their mission to address serious mental health issues could be an answer to city officials.
New investors take more risks to ESG while old investors are risk-averse. This is mainly due to protectionism of their current assets, or, not being familiar or sharing the same values for a more sustainable global society.
Clean Technologies are not friendly because disruption doesn’t open hands, because most wealth is generated by older families and companies and due to their hunting abilities, they will protect their current assets.
Politicians are doing a great job and often succeed at securing framework policies for funding disruptive innovations and some of them reach the market though a hybrid war with corporates.
The future will be more sustainable, as Corporates will decide that their life is endagered.
Untill then, change is minimal because no one likes to invest extra time and resources in things they don't understand.(or don;t want to understand).Sustainability Commodities Financial
